Publication Policy of the Journal of Islamic Legal Studies

  1. The journal accepts research papers in its relevant specialties throughout the year via the scientific journals platform (imamjournals.org), except during the summer vacation.
  2. The researcher must declare that the submitted scholarly work is original and has not been submitted to any other publication outlet. Submitting the same research to more than one outlet at the same time is considered a violation of research ethics.
  3. The paper undergoes an initial review by a committee from the Editorial Board to ensure it meets the required standards, adheres to research ethics, and is suitable for peer review. The committee may decide to send it for review or reject it without being obliged to provide reasons.
  4. The researcher is notified of whether the paper is eligible for peer review or not, usually within no more than one week from the date of submission.
  5. The paper is sent to two referees who have expertise in the field and strong research backgrounds. If both approve the paper, it is accepted. If their evaluations differ, the paper is sent to a third referee to determine the final decision, or the Editorial Board may decide as it sees appropriate.
  6. The peer-review process is fully confidential, and the names of researchers and reviewers are not revealed.
  7. Each reviewer is requested to submit a written evaluation based on specific criteria, including clarity of research objectives, alignment of the title with the content, adequacy of academic material, depth of analysis, scholarly contribution to the field, and academic integrity.
  8. A reviewer must decline the assignment if they believe the paper does not fall within their specialization or if they do not have sufficient time to conduct the review.
  9. The peer-review process usually takes no more than one month from the date the paper is submitted.
  10. The reviewer must ensure that comments address the paper itself and not the author, and should include strengths, weaknesses, and detailed observations according to the approved review form.
  11. The Editorial Board may retain the reasons for rejecting a paper in cases where it has been declined.
  12. A rejected paper may not be resubmitted to the journal, even if revised.
  13. Publication priority is determined based on the date of acceptance, though the Editorial Board reserves the right to make exceptions.
  14. The Editorial Board has the right to make formal or stylistic adjustments to the paper to comply with the journal’s publication format.
  15. The views expressed in published papers represent the authors’ opinions and do not necessarily represent those of the university or the Editorial Board, and neither assumes legal responsibility for such views.
  16. All publication rights remain with the journal for five years from the date of acceptance. The researcher may not publish the paper elsewhere, in print or electronically, before this period has passed, without the approval of the Editor-in-Chief.
  17. The journal is published digitally through the scientific journals platform of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University.
  18. The journal is committed to respecting researchers’ intellectual property rights and preventing infringement upon the ideas of others in any form.
  19. The Editorial Board reserves the right to remove a paper or part of it after publication if necessary.
  20. The journal provides free and open access to all accepted papers once published, supporting wider research visibility, academic exchange, and greater access to knowledge for interested readers and researchers.
