Degree of including values of cognitive passion in language competency books at secondary stage in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The study aimed at determining criteria of cognitive passion values and including them in language competency books at secondary stage in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve the objectives, the study adopted the descriptive approach by using content analysis method, a content analysis card was designed as a tool for data collection. The total sample, represented in all learning activities included in language competency books at secondary stage, numbered (1,384) educational activities. The study conducted the following: defining the norms of cognitive passion values and its branching indicators. Additionally, the results of study revealed that the highest realized indicators in criterion of (the value of knowledge production), with (moderately included) and percentage (41.69%), While (the value of seeking and discovering knowledge with passion) came as the lowest realized indicators with (very low degree) and percentage (10.12%). The results of the study conducted that the most included values of language competency are (grammatical competency), while the least represented in (spelling competency). The most prominent recommendations of this study included: Designing enrichment activities in light of the values of cognitive passion, following up the activation of Arabic language teachers’ use of active learning strategies as to contribute in developing values of cognitive passion among female students and evaluating them in light of this.
