General Problematic Use of the Internet and Its Relationship with Family Cohesion and Life Satisfaction among Sample of Saudi Society.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between the general problematic use of the internet and family cohesion, life satisfaction in sample of Saudi society, and exploring the contribution of the family cohesion and life satisfaction variables in case of general problematic use of the internet. The study used the scale of general problematic use of the internet prepared by Nihad Abdel Wahab, and the scale of life satisfaction prepared by (Deiner, 1984) and and was validated by the researcher, in addition to Family Cohesion Scale which valideted by (Alzhrany, 2018). The sample was selected randomly from four cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and ALBaha. There were 456 with age average 32.52 and standard deviation 1.16. The results showed that there were negative relationship between the general problematic use of the internet and family cohesion P>0.05 and with the life satisfaction P>0.001, also unmarried participants were more generalized problematic internet than married participants P<0,001(t=-3.69) and the general problematic use of the internet can be predicted by through the variables of family cohesion and life satisfaction.
